Over $ 1 Million for 1997-98 Michael Jordan Autograph UD Gaming Jersey

They’re getting closer, but a Michael Jordan card topped $ 1 million for the first time at auction. An autograph of Michael Jordan’s 1997-98 Upper Deck gaming jersey sold for $ 1.44 million early Friday, February 5, via Heritage Auctions.

The map has several notable and historical features.

Perhaps most importantly, this is the first autographed memorabilia card by Michael Jordan.

The jersey sample inside the map is also not a generic player (at least as much as one might get on the MJ scale). It comes from a jersey Jordan wore in the 1992 NBA All-Star Game.

The Michael Jordan 1997-98 Upper Deck Game Jersey autograph has only 23 copies, each numbered by hand. It was found in the Upper Deck Series 2 1997-98 packs. Jordan also has a standard jersey card in the insert set.

This particular copy of the map is the 8/23 copy and has a rating of NM 7 from PSA.

Jordan punctuated the auction event, Heritage’s first dedicated exclusively to modern cards.

A 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan RC PSA 10 grossed $ 645,000. Two more copies of the card sold for $ 738,000 each less than a week earlier on January 30 through Goldin Auctions.

A 1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Michael Jordan reached nearly half a million, for $ 480,000.

Classified NM-MT BGS 8, it is the 052/100 copy. That said, only 90 cards have the red background. The first ten copies are green. A copy of one of the PMG Green Cards sold on December 13, 2020 for $ 915,000.
